As the cold continues to keep most of you indoors, the sporting schedule in Central Illinois is heating up. Whether you’re a fan of basketball, hockey or softball, the Peoria Area has a few events that will keep you entertained this weekend!
Here’s a glance at a few of the sporting events coming up this weekend.
The Peoria Rivermen Alumni Association is proud to present a matchup between the Chicago Blackhawks Alumni and St. Louis Blues Alumni at the Peoria Civic Center tonight. The proceeds will be used to assist the tornado relief efforts in Central Illinois.
The doors will open at 6:00 p.m. and the puck drops at 7:00 p.m. A $10 donation is requested at the door. Fans will have an opportunity for autographs and to participate in a silent auction for the Alumni jerseys.

The Avanti’s Dome in Pekin will play host to an ASA Tournament featuring three separate age divisions. Teams will be competing to earn a qualifying spot in the Hall of Fame Tournament in Oklahome City, OK. The tournaments get underway on Friday evening and continue through Sunday.

Bradley vs. Southern Illinois
The Bradley Braves Men’s Basketball team will return to the Peoria Civic Center to take on the Southern Illinois Salukis on Friday at 7:00 p.m. On Wednesday, Walt Lemon, Jr. was named the Country Financial Scholar-Athlete of the Week after averaging 23.5 points in a pair of games last week.
Throw on a red shirt and head down to the Peoria Civic Center on Friday to support your Braves!
The Rivermen will return to home ice on Saturday at 7:15 p.m. and Sunday at 3:15 p.m. Right now, the Rivs are sitting in the middle of the standings, and a couple of home wins this weekend may help jumpstart a playoff run.
