The Creek on State, located on State Street in Downtown Peoria, is one of the newest additions to Central Illinois’ already diverse restaurant scene. This unique eatery, owned and operated by local Winery Director Rory Conner and his wife Mary, is “focused on a Tapas(ish) dining experience.” They prefer serving smaller plates for smaller prices in an atmosphere where guests are encouraged to share with each other, translating to a one-of-a-kind meal.
Rotating Lunch Buffet
One of the largest attractions at this new eatery is the rotating lunch buffet, featuring different items each day. For only $7.49, visitors can enjoy Mediterranean Monday, Taco Tuesday, Wrap Wednesday or Thrifty Thursday!
Here are a few items off of the lunch menu that caught my eye!
Pepper Jack Turkey Focaccia: “Smoked turkey, crisp strips of bacon and pepper jack cheese paired with honey mustard mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato, on toasted bread.”
Rib-Eye Sandwich: “Grilled redeye with sautéed mushrooms, onions, and provolone cheese served on a toasted hoagie bun.”
Black and Blue Shrimp Salad: “Blackened shrimp on a bed of mixed greens, bacon bits, crumbled bleu cheese, red onions, tomatoes, tossed in a bleu cheese dressing.”
And if you’re looking for a nice place to enjoy dinner, here are a few items from their dinner menu.
Lobster Macaroni & Cheese: “One of the Creek’s signature dishes, creamy cheese sauce and Morsels of real lobster prepared and topped with a panko crust. A great spin on a traditional dish.”
Fried Porcini Mushroom Ravioli: “Lightly breaded porcini ravioli fried in extra virgin olive oil and served with your choice of marinara or a classic Bolognese sauce.”
Drunken Steak: “A classic 8oz. cut of flat iron charbroiled to perfection and served with a drunken pale ‘ale sauce and a white wine poached quail egg served with garlic mashed potatoes and vegetable Dujour.”
Poached Apples with a Caramel and Whiskey Sauce: “Delicious Fuji apples poached and wrapped in a French pastry and paired with a caramel whisky sauce.”
