It’s shaping up to be an awesome weekend in Central Illinois, offering activities ranging from a Jimmy Buffet night to an Indiana Jones screening at a museum. Below are a few more events that will help keep your schedule full this weekend!



Pickin’ on Jimmy Buffet

As part of the Monthly Music Feature at Sky Harbor Steakhouse in Peoria, a group of guest musicians will help customers go “fins up.” Chris Tarpley, Al Peacock, Steel Man Paul Hill and Dklu will play from 7-9 p.m. There will not be a cover charge and a full menu will be available from 4-10 p.m. Oh, and I better not forget to mention the $3 margaritas.

Gertie’s Groundhog Day

Wildlife Prairie Park invites you for a very special event as the area’s iconic groundhog, Gertie, makes her annual weather prognostication at Gertie’s Groundhog Day. The special morning begins on Sunday at 6 a.m. Everyone keep your fingers crossed for no shadows and an early spring!


The Suffler 5K

Are you ready to take on the cold on Sunday morning? If so, get registered for the Suffler 5K at Northwoods Mall in Peoria. The race begins at 9 a.m. After the race, join everyone in celebrating at Kouri’s Pub. All participants will receive an official 2014 Suffler shirt, an official Suffler pint glass, and breakfast at Kouri’s Pub (including first drink).  For more information, click HERE! (LINK)

Museum Movie Matinee—The Indiana Jones Series

Come enjoy an Indiana Jones movie on Saturday afternoon at Dickson Mounds Museum in the auditorium. This month, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom is the featured film. Complimentary popcorn and beverages will be available. The movie will begin at 1 p.m. The event is free of charge, but donations are welcomed.

Monster Jam

The biggest and best Monster Jam superstars are taking over the Peoria Civic Center for three huge shows. Monster Jam is the most exciting family motorsports entertainment on the planet, featuring racing and freestyle thrills. Twelve-feet-tall, ten-thousand-pound trucks will soar over and smash through a battlefield of destruction!

Friday’s show begins at 7 p.m., while Saturday’s shows will start at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Before the Saturday afternoon show fans will get to meet the drivers, get their autographs, take photos and even see the trucks up close!
